Rare vintage press photo of a British raiding party from the 10th Battalion of the Scottish Rifles (Cameronians) exiting a trench (sap) to attack German lines near Arras, France, on April 11, 1917.
The image was captured by official photographer Lieutenant John Warwick Brooke, who was positioned with the soldiers during the assault.
Following the taking of this photo, a British shell fell short of its target, resulting in the deaths of seven men in the party.
