Portfolio Center Original Advertising and Design School Poster

Portfolio Center Original Advertising and Design School Poster

  • ca 1997
  • James Victore
  • 25 x 38 inches ~ (63 x 96 cm)
    $175
  • Unbacked

This poster is currently unbacked. At check out, you will be given the opportunity to add backing which would cost $145 and take approximately 6-8 weeks.

Linen backing is the industry standard of conservation. Canvas is stretchered and a sheet of acid free barrier paper is laid down. The poster is then pasted to the acid free paper using an acid free paste. This process is fully reversible and gives support to the poster. A border of linen is left around the poster and can be used by a framer to mount the poster so that nothing touches the poster itself. Backing is what we recommend for framing, and for any poster needing restoration.

  • Great double sided poster advertising the Portfolio Center (now known as the Miami Ad School) with detailed information about the program on one side and a stylized eye-catching (pun intended) design of an eye on the other.

"This poster showcases the type of work you could be doing if you were at the Portfolio Center. In fact, every ad, photograph and illustration you see here was created by the students.
The poster design was created by James Victore (212.925.6862). Victore's poster work is in the permanent collection of the Palais du Louvre, Paris, but more importantly, he's a visiting professional at the Portfolio Center.
The copy was written by Ed Chambliss. Ed's advertising career began at the age of two with him singing toothpaste jingles in the bathroom. Since then, he's stopped singing (thank god) and gone on to create award-winning work for a variety of national and local agencies. Today Ed is the head of Portfolio Center's Copywriting Department and a freelance copywriter."
