    Linen backing is the industry standard of conservation. Canvas is stretchered and a sheet of acid free barrier paper is laid down. The poster is then pasted to the acid free paper using an acid free paste. This process is fully reversible and give support to the poster. A border of linen is left around the poster and can be used by a framer to mount the poster so that nothing touches the poster itself. Backing is what we recommend for framing, and for any poster needing restoration.

  • In the permanent collection of the Cooper Hewitt museum with the following description "In 1994 Valicenti and 3st received the commission to produce a poster showcasing the Northstar and Broughton Printing Company’s new 8-color, 26 x 40, Miller U.V. mega-press (Termin-eight-or #3). In typical fashion, Valicenti took the opportunity to simultaneously explore the quandary of commercial design in a media-saturated culture. Instead of a single poster, Valicenti produced a series of six posters titled “Gee dad, modern design, huh?” Each successive poster is crowded with ever more logos or graphic identities, some vaguely recognizable, and others so familiar that signifier and signified have merged into an indistinguishable tangle. By the end of the series, this massing of logos has fused into a single form."

    This 2 sided poster is one of the final posters from the series with numerous overprinted logos.
