Foreigners, please don't leave us alone with the Danes

  • ca 2002
  • Superflex, Graphic design by Rasmus Koch
  • 28 x 20 inches ~ (71 x 50 cm)
  • Unbacked

This poster is currently unbacked. At check out, you will be given the opportunity to add backing which would cost $135 and take approximately 6-8 weeks.

Linen backing is the industry standard of conservation. Canvas is stretchered and a sheet of acid free barrier paper is laid down. The poster is then pasted to the acid free paper using an acid free paste. This process is fully reversible and gives support to the poster. A border of linen is left around the poster and can be used by a framer to mount the poster so that nothing touches the poster itself. Backing is what we recommend for framing, and for any poster needing restoration.

  • During 2002 the poster with the wording Foreigners, please don't leave us alone with the Danes was put up in the streets as a comment on the increasing harsh climate in Denmark with regards to public debate on immigrants and issues on integration. During the Danish EU Presidency in 2002 this development in the Danish political climate also became a topic in the international press.

As part of the exhibition The Global Complex, Grazer Kunstverein & O.K. Centrumr Gegenwartskunst Linz in Austria posters were put up in Malmo and Copenhagen. Also in 2002, posters were put up in Odense, Denmark, with connection to Skulptur i Eventyrhaven & Vollsmose. Graphic design by Rasmus Koch.
