Linen backing is the industry standard of conservation. Canvas is stretchered and a sheet of acid free barrier paper is laid down. The poster is then pasted to the acid free paper using an acid free paste. This process is fully reversible and gives support to the poster. A border of linen is left around the poster and can be used by a framer to mount the poster so that nothing touches the poster itself.

The price of this poster includes linen backing.

  • Apparently, Marse Shelby's Chicken Dinner was a long running vaudville act featuring a blackfaced actor. From a 1912 theatre review "JOHN P. WADE & CO: Two men and a woman, in the character comedy, entitled "Marse Shelby's Chicken Dinner". Mr. Wade portrayes the character of Jefferson Jackson Monroe, a negro, in splendid manner, which at times brings spontaneous applause. Mr. Wade is given excellent support and the play is very interesting. Big applause greets them at every performance. Full stage twenty-three minutes. "
