  • H.M. Veenstra

  • Linen backed

Linen backing is the industry standard of conservation. Canvas is stretchered and a sheet of acid free barrier paper is laid down. The poster is then pasted to the acid free paper using an acid free paste. This process is fully reversible and gives support to the poster. A border of linen is left around the poster and can be used by a framer to mount the poster so that nothing touches the poster itself.

The price of this poster includes linen backing.

  • Canoers, riders and motorists all enjoy the breathtaking vistas and "scenic marvels" of the American West. During the 1930s, as American railroad companies scrambled to advertise their brand new streamlined trains, "a coalition of nearly thirty railroads [out West] pooled their resources against the auto and introduced the 'Travel By Train' campaign. Their cooperative effort produced nearly a dozen posters portraying a range of national destinations. Most notable were New York's Fifth Avenue by Fred Mizen and western landscapes by Denver artist H.M. Veenstra" (Zega p. 109)

Excellent condition, the poster was folded as original, with very faint traces of fold lines.
