Linen backing is the industry standard of conservation. Canvas is stretchered and a sheet of acid free barrier paper is laid down. The poster is then pasted to the acid free paper using an acid free paste. This process is fully reversible and gives support to the poster. A border of linen is left around the poster and can be used by a framer to mount the poster so that nothing touches the poster itself.
The price of this poster includes linen backing.
Huge 2 sheet poster for Dietrich’s “ diamond” radiators is a great example of art deco photomontage. Showing a cheerful and satisfied customer basking in the radiant heat of a product whose slogan translates as “Buy a Diamond and save money.” The text at the bottom of the poster promises a savings of 150 - 350 Francs per month, just another reason to smile.
Graphic designer Francis Bernard is described by poster author Alain Weill in Deco Affiches, p. 114 as “unjustly unknown. His geometric studies and photomontages are in a class with Cassandre or Carlu”.
Please note this poster is linen backe in 2 pieces, it can be framed as one.
