This is an original ca 1966 silver photographic print of a Richard Avedon photo for Vogue Magazine. The photo appeared in the October 1966 issue.
In 1994 a group of Avedon photos were consigned to and sold by Swann Auction House in NYC. Following the auction, Avedon sued consignor Marc Stolfe and claimed ownership of the photos. Almost 3 years later, the case ended with a muti-page settlement which included a "non-disclosure clause" and Avedon's releasing the photos we currently have. Included with the photo is a copy of the settlement. This image and the three additional Avedon prints we currently have were payment in the case to the defense attorney. How and why this original work print was released is not known. We aquired the photo directly from the attorney in the matter.
Basically, an extraorinary period original printing with fabulous provenance and interest.
