The poster is then pasted to the acid free paper using an acid free paste. This process is fully reversible and gives support to the poster. A border of linen is left around the poster and can be used by a framer to mount the poster so that nothing touches the poster itself. Emanuelle, an unhappy housewife desperately seeks to free herself from the brutal sexual excesses forced upon her by her husband, Roberto. She attempts to find solace in an affair with a younger man, but is abused by him as well. In desperation she turns to her sister Giovanna, who runs a brothel, specializing in sado-masochistic games. With her help, she plots her revenge upon the men who have mistreated her with a display of sexual excess.

Following the success of the 1974 film Emmanuelle, many authorized sequels were created. The success also spawned many "knock-off" Emmanuelle films, which included the name Emmanuelle or its variants in their titles for exploitative reasons, but were not connected to the original series.
