Linen backing is the industry standard of conservation. Canvas is stretchered and a sheet of acid free barrier paper is laid down. The poster is then pasted to the acid free paper using an acid free paste. This process is fully reversible and gives support to the poster. A border of linen is left around the poster and can be used by a framer to mount the poster so that nothing touches the poster itself.

Very interesting poster for French board game, Le Jeu des Grand Raids, (The Game of Great Flights) with image of a Loire et Olivier LeO 21 aircraft which was flown by Air Union ca 1930.
<brThe five pilots shown at top of poster are Hugo Eckener, Arturo Ferrarin, Charles Lindbergh, Dieudonne Costes, AH Orlebar and Martin Ignacio Jimenez.
ECKNER, Managerof German Zeppelin Company, piloted Graf Zeppelin around the world in 1929.; FERRARIN, Flew Rome to Tokyo in 1920, 1n 1928 broke world duration record staying aloft over 58 hours.; Lindberghin "The Spirit of St Louis" first solo transatlantic flight May 1927 from Long Island USA to Le Bourget France in 33.5 hours.; Costes, 1928 round the world flight with navigator Joseph LeBrix covering 36,000 miles in 338 hours.; Orlebar, head of Royal Air Force "High Speed Flight" which won Schneider Trophy seaplane race in Calshot England.;
