Linen backing is the industry standard of conservation. Canvas is stretchered and a sheet of acid free barrier paper is laid down. The poster is then pasted to the acid free paper using an acid free paste. This process is fully reversible and gives support to the poster. Christine, a high school graduate, is madly in love with the Frenchman Alain, who is studying German in Lübeck. Christine's bitter father, the industrialist Luba, is against this relationship. He lies and schemes to prevent the two from dating. Nevertheless, Christine and Alain spend a lot of time together. They drive to the Baltic Sea, tour the city or visit old Jens Brodersen, who is said to have clairvoyant abilities. He predicts a long journey for the couple. Christine is increasingly taken in by her father's domineering nature. To find out more about him and her parents' divorce, she visits her mother in Hamburg. But her mother no longer wants to know anything about her former husband.
