See Hear Play

  • Sandor (Alexander Raymond Katz, 1895-1974)
  • 26 1/2 x 39 1/2 inches ~ (66 x 99 cm)
    $6,500
  • Linen backed

Linen backing is the industry standard of conservation. Canvas is stretchered and a sheet of acid free barrier paper is laid down. The poster is then pasted to the acid free paper using an acid free paste. This process is fully reversible and gives support to the poster. A border of linen is left around the poster and can be used by a framer to mount the poster so that nothing touches the poster itself.

The price of this poster includes linen backing.

  • Very rare large sized 1934 World’s Fair poster. A colorful signpost leads visitors to See, Hear, Play, at exciting attractions, including the Sky Ride and the Hall of Science. The Chicago World's Fair marked the first time that neon lights were used extensively, and this poster reflects the novelty, energy and brightness of the many displays.

Born in Hungary, Katz was a prominent Jewish artist who worked extensively on WPA projects including murals, illustrations and stained glass.
